Walk with God

Updated: Oct 14, 2023

Last Sunday's sermon was about Enoch who walked with God and was taken by God without seeing a death after his life of 365 years on earth.

While meditating on a "walk with God", I come to an imagine of a slow and relaxing walk with a close friend (like a walk on the beach), having a warm conversation with an open heart and a peaceful mind.

If we mediate on it in different perspectives - in fact, Oswald Chambers has the same bible verse for the same day mediation, giving us the eyes on the different flavor which is more relevant to discipleship - we will find another amazing truth in it.

But, here I found three beautiful things hidden in this walk that would help us to nourish our spiritual growth.

  • Walk with Him: He is with us in our walk, like walking shoulder to shoulder. Jesus’ another name is Immanuel, meaning “God is with us”. This is the ultimate gospel to anyone under any circumstance, even amid the war. The word “God is with us” gives us not only comfort at the present, but also gives a strength through the hope and the faith to overcome all the hardships and even death.

  • Walk while talk: This is the walk while talking, not a silent walk. Conversation is the most important ingredient in this walk. It would be a peaceful talk, open talk - with tears and joy - and comfortable talk that I can imagine as well as listening to the holy Spirit.

  • Walk toward a direction: Walking with God surely has a direction. He wouldn’t lead us to any random, meaningless or accidentally mistaken direction. Walking with Him will give us the assurance that I’m going on the right path and right track in my life which will lead me to the abundant life as Jesus has promised.
